A company’s culture is the bloodstream of that organization. But for an advertising agency, it is the soul. You see, it is the company environment that holds the creative juice. The continuous communication between different ad professionals squeezes out the best of ideas. But the culture at Rioconn is a tad different.

Is continuous communication with your peers, hectic work hours, and craazzzyy deadlines the real agency life? Well, maybe yes for every other agency but not for Rioconn. Some of the greatest campaigns do not come from random conversations, late-night brainstorming sessions, and last-moment changes. Some brilliant ideas hide beneath the silence of quiet corners, some morning meetings are more productive than others, and discipline with proper management works like a charm to whip out real advertising solutions.

Rioconn has a corner for everyone who harbours different work tactics. The nerd corner for those who need silence to catch that big idea, the social networking corner where the social butterflies thrive, and the work-mode corner where sheet gets done (pun intended) at a Fevikwik speed. Rioconn is an advertising and communication company that has become home to many because of these unique corners. Everyone can be themselves without a single ounce of judgemental glances. And everyone indulges in their own way of having fun. (Mostly food)

Sampling Here And There

As ad professionals, we know the importance of doing research and testing out ideas before turning them into a huge campaign. One of the simple methods to test the feasibility of a campaign is through SAMPLING. Agh, statistics, long-lost brother of mathematics, do we really do such a boring thing in our office? Yes, but it’s not boring if your sample population is from Rioconn.

Rioconn employees’ are the target audience for any campaign. The great Indian consumer lives inside the walls of Rioconn. Be it dramatic fans of The Big Boss or intellectual peeps from Christopher Nolan movies. Be it, obsessive shopaholics or caring family men. Be it, extreme foodies or strict diet planners, you will find the right sample inside the office itself.

Making Ideas Smooth AF

Another thing you will notice in a #RioKeLaal is the constant need to sharpen a perfectly good design/copy. We call it “The Big Push” That goes without saying, ideas have to be absolutely perfect before rolling out in the digital market. One mistake in a creative can cost you a client. But how an agency with huge clients smoothify the sheer amount of advertisements every day. Simple, self-criticism followed by opinions of the team.

In Rioconn, every employee’s opinion matters and is equal. That’s the beauty of a flat structure, you can walk up straight and say, “I don’t think this idea will work” Your opinions are always heard and the seniors ensure it receives a proper justification.

Aaj Kon Party De Rahaa?

This question is probably everyone’s favourite and you get to hear it every single day at Rioconn. When we say every day is a celebration, we mean it literally. You see, we have these cool rituals where we throw random parties to celebrate the smallest of personal/professional achievements.

If we win a client, we bring in a cake. Someone is welcoming a new-born baby? We bring in a cake. Client rejected someone’s idea?  We bring in a cake (a small one) to lift up their mood. We are always high on ideas, sugar and pizzas. We explore Zomato and Swiggy for cool new restaurants and puns. There’s not a day that goes bland at Rioconn.

One For All, All For One

Remember those unique corners mentioned above, that’s not the only best quality of Rioconn. The best is the people, #RioKeLal that’s what our boss calls us. Rioconn takes care of employees like the true asset they are. They feed us like a baby and scold us like one too. There’s always something to learn from each other and from our mentors.

We stay late just to give a friend some moral support and we share meals like a family. We back each other in times of trouble and we add value to an idea every time. That’s why we say “An idea at Rioconn belongs to the entire team who worked hard for it”

Though we don’t really like to blow our own trumpet, there are numerous achievements we will be taking the credit for in this article. And anyway, we are not saying we are the best advertising agency in this country, but we have surely taken a great place in the top ad agencies of India. That being said, we are the best ad agency in Ahmedabad

Needless to say, we are quite eager to tell you all that we have created through our flawless skills of storytelling and impeccable visual design aesthetics.

As an advertising agency, our first intent is to do a thorough study of our client and what it really stands for, the demographics and psychographics of their audience, their biggest competitors, and a lot more. Then, and only then starts a long and immensely creative process of ideation, followed by execution, of course!

Being a branding agency in Ahmedabad, it’s only fair that we give you a better idea through some exceptional work from our extensive portfolio.

One of the companies we were approached by was a top brand of exclusive jewellery named Finnati by Samarth Group, to build an identity for their elaborate jewellery brand. We designed the identity of the brand as refined in taste as the brand itself.

Moreover, as one of the top advertising agencies of India, we also had the great fortune of working with Accumax, a leading lab equipment manufacturer. We were tasked to design packaging for Fab Pipette, and our design received significant reviews. This time, we had surely exceeded the expectations!

Unitedworld Institute Of Design (UID) needs no introduction, and we, Rioconn Interactive Private Limited branding agency got the opportunity to design and illustrate a Brochure for them. We accepted this golden chance with open arms and made the most of it by communicating the importance of learning how to materialize their innovative ideas and creativity in an effective manner. The brochure was brimmed with ingenuity, and for it we were highly praised.

Have you heard of Eyecura? Yes, we designed their brand identity through their logo. By keeping their brand value in mind we designed a logo with striking colours and sophisticated style. A unique and innovative logo like that exudes elegance and class, making it perfect for their audience.

And since we are the best ad agency in Ahmedabad, we have lots of such remarkable work under our belt to boast about, but we can only talk so much here. Stay tuned for more such interesting articles about us and our journey to securing our place in the list of the top ad agencies in India

The new digital reports published by We Are Social and Hootsuite suggest how digital, mobile, and social media have become an integral part of our lives. It states that more than 4.5 billion people now use the internet, more than 3.8 billion people are active on social media, and nearly 60 percent of the world’s population is already online. By the way, this report was published before the pandemic. We are sure these stats have increased during the outbreak as the internet has become a new need during and after the lockdown.

But a shocking thing in this report was that more than 31 percent of ‘unconnected’ (people not using the internet) people are from regions like India, China, and Africa, and the majority of them are women. Data says “Women in Southern Asia are three times less on social media than men”, (of course population can be the reason along with illiteracy ratio).

Research by GSMA published in 2020 shows that more than half of the total women living in India are unaware of the existence of mobile internet. And our curiosity started from here. Why this gender gap? And will this gender gap become a problem in the future? Let’s find out!

The Whys And Wherefores

– Literacy and Skills

It is no hidden fact that India has a low literacy rate, and obviously, women fare poorly in this list. Because a majority of us still believe that women should be confined to their traditional gender roles, namely cooking and taking care of the family. As women, we are also not aware of the power that the internet and literacy give us.

–  Money Can Be A Matter

A major issue in South Asia is also buying a smartphone. For a woman who has a minimum income or none, it is an expensive and unnecessary expense. The average cost of a smartphone can be up to 16% of the annual income(report by UNICEF) of the under poverty line women.

–    Safety And Security

Women and their families think about the safety, risk, and security of using smartphones. The internet, being a medium where things can easily go viral, the security of any gender is a must. Women and their families don’t feel safe online and have a fear of security.

Perceived Sense Of Relevance

Women using a phone is still not considered relevant. This barrier is seen more in rural India. A report by UNICEF suggested that, in Rajasthan, girls were not allowed to use a mobile phone and social media, and a village in UP banned unmarried girls from using the phone and also from wearing jeans(really?). Awareness of relevance is highly needed in our country. Another barrier in relevance is the language barrier,  English is not understood by everyone in the country, and not all languages are available on the internet and phone.

Importance Of Reducing The Gender Gap

An era of digital sexism is upon us due to the problems mentioned above. Women need to have access to the internet and a smartphone as it can help them in many ways, like:

1. Getting awareness about the world

The news and updates about the world are just a tap away. It will help women in growing their business online and to make the correct decisions by giving relevant information about their business and surroundings. Digital technologies will also help them in getting access to healthcare, banking, and other essential services from home.

2. Seeking Help

There are many things, like sex education and health problems, which we as women don’t wish to share or talk about, but the internet can help us. It can answer our questions regarding health issues, mental issues, can give us tips and ideas for business, can teach us any language or profession, etc. It is one of the ways of improving and making society more progressive.

3. Smartphones make people smarter

When you are aware of the problem and solution, it gives you a superior position in the situation. Women tend to discuss and take suggestions from relatives and friends before buying or selling something. But with the internet, they can research and know about the product themselves.

A Little To Worry

Being part of an advertising agency that goes with the post-COVID digital trend, it is a worrying thing for all of us, as we are missing on the big amount of target audiences because they don’t use the internet. We are wasting our money on targeting the same group and the same people. But the good news is the awareness rate is increasing with time.

The Way Forward

Digitalization is a big advantage for the current generation. It has the potential to build and grow companies and nations. Through the following plans, we can spread awareness among women of the nation.

  • We can plan campaigns and awareness programs around digital safety and usage for women.
  • We can work on addressing the positive and negative influences of the internet.
  • There should be government policies or Yojanas to encourage women to use smartphones.
  • Special women’s internet usage schemes.

With growing awareness, there will be more skilled internet workers and jobs, which will boost the digital economy and ultimately have a positive impact on the nation’s economy. This makes Digital equality a must for the growth of the digital economy, and reducing the digital gender gap becomes a need of the time.

Humanity is facing one of the most challenging crises since the Second World War. This crisis is not only a threat to human health, but also to the world’s economy. Apart from the two negatively impacted aspects, health and economy, there is one more overlooked aspect of the crisis, which is a positive one- Emotional Intelligence.

Revising The Work Pyramid

After a strict series of lockdowns, as the first unlock has been announced, we are breathing back towards normalcy. But are we truly normal again? Well, of course not. As the definition of normal has changed for us, so have the definitions for work-life and business. While we have been making amendments in our lifestyle and routine, we have made alterations in our work life as well.

Businesses work essentially with the 3 Ps- Passion, Process, People; as the order itself suggests, we have been giving significant importance to passion, while on the bottom of the pyramid stands, people. Being a labour rich country, India always had the liberty to keep passion and process above people.

Well, as COVID 19 caught us off guard, it taught us a lot of lessons, most importantly, emotional intelligence. One of the crucial lessons was that even if modifications are made in the supposedly rigid work pyramid, things can go just fine, rather, more than just fine!

Here Are 3 Important Lessons We Learnt During The COVID 19 Lockdown:

Lesson 1: Work Over Space

Our focus shifted from work space to work. We learnt that we do not necessarily need a dedicated space to work, just some motivation, liberty, and a hot cup of coffee!

When employees are given the liberty to work freely, at their convenience, productivity tends to improve!

Lesson 2: Employee Wellness Should Be A Priority

Success is deeply connected with empathy. In a time when death is hovering overhead, we understood that each one of us has the fear of losing a loved one. When the younger generation could not come to work because their parents were vulnerable to the disease, we empathize with them. An employer’s support towards his/her employee only encourages the worker to work harder. Humanity revived!

Lesson 3: Creating Psychological Safety

As the pandemic has caused immense grief, anxiety, and even depression among people, companies have started giving importance to the mental health of employees. It encourages respect and transparency, instead of fear and judgement.

Clearly, the pandemic changed the way we functioned. Now. It’s our time to rebuild our business with innovative strategies.

Moving Ahead

Survival Strategy Or Success Strategy?

According to the rating agency ICRA, it is predicted that the growth rate of India in FY20-21 will be down to 2% from a range of 4.7%-5.2% (Economic Times, April 2020). Looking at the figures, we cannot deny the fact that the lockdown affected businesses negatively. Some of us lost clients, while some of us could not continue due to labour deficiency.

Now, during these challenging times, it is necessary to not just stabilize, but to rework on branding strategies for the future.

The next few months can be difficult for a lot of businesses, and hence, during these uncertain times, it is wise to realign your branding strategies by approaching an advertising agency.

Reasons for approaching a branding and advertising agency:

  • Your Marketing Funds Will Be Allocated Judiciously

The current uncertainty in the market is sure to add to your confusions of allocation of funds. Advertising agencies are well versed in addressing impulsive problems and can guide in terms of the best marketing channels according to the business’s requirements. This will ensure that the funds are not randomly allocated, but wisely, wherein healthy returns are ensured.

  • A Balance Between Philanthropic And Profit Making Activities

Keeping in mind the present scenario, brands are focusing heavily on philanthropic activities. These activities are certainly important as they give a competitive advantage; they reflect the personal values and beliefs of the organization. However, businesses must maintain a balance between both. An advertising agency helps in ensuring that the campaigns are balanced, and the business earns profits as well as goodwill.

  • More Objectively Chosen Marketing Strategies

It is true that businesses are shifting from print strategies to digital marketing. However, it is important to note that digital marketing is NOT restricted to Facebook, Instagram, Google adverts, and other common platforms or ways. Digital marketing is a huge field, and companies need to take professional help in order to ensure revenue generation digitally. Ad agencies have an expert team to ensure the same.

  • Integrated Services With An Access To Experts

When it is time to focus on your business, it isn’t wise to waste energy and resources in coordination. Ad agencies have experts in every field, be it digital, content, graphics or client servicing. This ensures that businesses get the best of everything, and their hard work and energy is directed in the right direction.

In one of my recent conversations with a leading real estate developer who is known for his transformational abilities, I found out he was dissatisfied by many brand communication experts and their brief execution skills in campaign design. He asked me to personally take interest so the outcome may exceed his expectations.

The initial conversations at our office were filled with anxiety given the responsibility to change a seasoned worldview. Sniffing the turmoil our principal copywriter got involved into the design thinking aspect of campaign design. After a few arguments and some friendly banter over my rigidness for making the layouts as per the client’s choice, he made a few statements that helped the entrepreneur inside me to think about something called the art of campaign design.

Design Thinking Gives Way To Campaign Design

It all starts with design thinking – a completely different way of thinking that is non-linear and doesn’t have a set method. In our school, particularly in maths, we had a defined and laid-out method to solve an example using linear thinking to derive a conclusion. However, design cannot be processed like that!!

Ok, so what is design thinking?

Design thinking is a human-centric, simple yet non-linear way of thinking. It’s first unlearning then learning.

But the question still lingered, how do you go about from design thinking to the art of campaign design. For us in creative communications, design thinking comes intuitively. But to define a clear method by connecting the dots and making it tangible, there was a challenge.

How To Craft A Campaign From Design Thinking?

Primarily, campaign designs are done for specific purposes, to motivate, not educate. They increase the incentives to take action by making the opportunity cost of inaction higher.

One needs campaign for any of the following purposes-

  • Brand Awareness
  • Brand Engagement
  • Product Sales (ROI Driven Campaign)

Whatever the purpose may be, effective motivation needs simplicity in message and purpose and that’s where design thinking takes over. For whatever your definition of the term is, you cannot deny its foundational principle- empathy. It is the basic understanding of the needs and desires of the end user that makes design thinking crucial to all the stages, whether it’s product development, branding or campaign design.

This is the genesis of the basic postulates of campaign design that can be summarized as A2C3 Approach (TM), or the 2 As and 3 Cs of campaign design

  • Awareness of TG’s desires & needs.
  • Alignment with the TG’s desires & needs.
  • Clarity of message
  • Call to action
  • Continuation for better recall

Irrespective of the nature of the campaign and its execution avenue(outdoor/digital), collectively, these five postulates of the A2C3 ApproachTM should command your campaign design strategy. This is exactly what we, at Rioconn, have imbibed in our culture. Adding these five methods to our creative madness, we’ve been able to successfully execute the brief with a clarity that not only exceeds our clients’ expectations, but excels at it.

Even amidst this chaotic situation, somewhere deep down we are rejoicing the delightful chirruping of the birds, the whistling sound of the fresh breeze, and the raindrops splashing on our window glass. Now that nature is healing itself, and has given us some time to introspect our lives, let us look back and think what has been our approach towards our existence; today it has become burdensome for us to stay in our homes, and protect ourselves and others.

India, a country known for its rich culture of collectivism, is somewhere also evidently displaying its culture of indiscipline, by thoughtlessly neglecting the steps proposed by the government to combat COVID 19. With our laid back approach towards problems, we wait for the moment when someone says “Pani sar se upar ho gaya hai ab!”.

Till the situation is not at the worst stage, we believe it is not bad enough for us to take the necessary actions.

Fearless Or Foolish?

In August 2006, TOI published an article “Most Indians Lack Self-Discipline”; sadly, one cannot disagree, and still in 2020 the situation hasn’t changed a lot. With our innate quality of curiosity, we have been reaching new heights of successfully, but our thirst to explore and experience everything, has taken a negative shape. During this pandemic, few of us are fearlessly roaming the streets, knowing the dire consequences. Is this really our curiosity or is it our foolishness?

However, the forced lockdown announced by the Indian government has been received positively by most of us. Majority of us are now taking the precautionary steps of protecting ourselves and others. Well, not like we have an option here!

The Privileged And The Underprivileged

An essential question for each one of us is “Is the lockdown a question of survival for me?”. There are high chances that if you are reading this, the answer is no.

The lockdown has further self-evidently divided the citizens into 2 sections; the privileged, the ones who are educated and have good jobs, with a sufficient bank balance. On the other hand, there are the underprivileged people of the society who survive on their daily wages (aaj kamaya, aaj khaya, literally).

Most of these people are jobless and homeless. Now, as wise citizens, the least we can do is contribute money to the COVID 19 fund and stay indoors and protect ourselves and them.

We should be fortunate to have a roof over our heads and money in our pockets.

As our country is growing at a fast pace towards modernization, there is less we can do to avoid health problems and other crises. Nevertheless, there are 2 ways in which we can address the future problems in a more prudent approach:

  • The Wise Way Out: Self-Discipline: To tackle any problem, the first thing we need is self-discipline. As of now, we lack even mere discipline. Even after being given a set of instructions to be followed for our own safety, we do not take it seriously. Hence, there’s an urgent need to teach discipline to ourselves and our coming generations.

There’s a wise old saying by William Feather, If we don’t discipline ourselves, the world will do it for us.” Let’s do our bit and practice discipline religiously.

  • Improve The Infrastructure : Improving the infrastructure is not only the government’s responsibility, but ours too. As civilized citizens, the least we can do is not vandalize public or private properties. During protests and riots, we display our fury and annoyance by destroying the properties we ourselves would need later.

No matter the size and population of the country, we must be ready to fight any catastrophe, any pandemic!

Like it is wisely said, there’s always something good in everything. Let’s take this as an opportunity to come out stronger, wiser, and more responsible.
